No Teeth Lesson Plan

  • Interpersonal Communication

  • Encouragement

  • Sensitivity to Others

Students will develop these skills by listening carefully to their partner. They will enjoy the challenge of talking with your teeth covered in a positive and supportive manner.

S.T.A.R. Options:

Class Clap, counting, and rhythms. Teacher or one student lead. When the whole class sounds as one, try tow, then three, etc…

Math Counting (Multiples) Partner Counting. Clapping as a group to desired number. Add a partner and alternate count. Change partners.

Play + Connect Activity

Everyone sits in a circle. From this point forward, you may not show your teeth. To speak, you pull your lips inward around your teeth to hide them. One member starts by asking the person next to him or her, “Is Mrs. Mumble home?” The person responds, “I don’t know - I’ll have to ask my neighbor.” “This keeps going around the circle. When someone’s teeth show due to laughter, he or she is out. Smiling is permitted provided the teeth don’t show. When asking or answering, contorting the facial muscles may be used to try to make the person next to you laugh. When the group narrows to the strong ones, it’s good to rearrange the sitting order to weed out any “closet laughers.”

Breathing Exercise Options:

Belly Breathing

5 belly breaths with mouth closed and hands on belly. Goal is to get students to breathe through nose and use their diaphragm. There should be very little movement of the chest and the belly should move in and out. Can do several rounds of this activity.

Accordion Breathing

5 belly breaths with mouth closed and hands on sides of lower ribs. Goal is to get students to breathe through nose and use their diaphragm. There should be very little movement of the chest and the students should feel movement outward on the inhale. Can do several rounds of this activity.

Have fun working on pronouncing different letter sounds, saying the alphabet, saying numbers, naming shapes, or any other topic that is related to classroom.

Reflect Activity

How can we encourage someone to keep trying even if something is difficult to do? Did you listen to your partner when it was their turn?
